Our client is a multinational company in the food industry and is looking for a:
 
Head Miller (m/f)
 
Angola
 
 Reporting to the Plant Manager the Head Miller (HM) will be responsible for:
 
– Milling operations management and ensuring departmental compliance with GMA values, policies and procedures. Key areas of responsibilities are flour milling, mill maintenance (in cooperation with the Maintenance/Technical Manager), wheat cleaning and tempering, record keeping, sanitation, planning, coordinating, and communication. This position plays a vital role in helping the plant team establish GMA as the preferred flour supplier in the country. This position is a key in promoting safety, quality, milling efficiency, and helping achieve the company’s goals and objectives;
 
-In addition, Head Miller will be an important resource for troubleshooting and training multiple resources and teams, and working with the Managers of the Mills, Operations Leaders and Engineering on strategic projects;
 
-Plant and Process Optimization. Identifies operational discrepancies and provides focused solutions with a timeline for corrective action. Works with the milling team to continuously improve the production process, improve safety, reduce production costs, and enhance product quality. Implements best and standard practices. Ensure that mills are properly and efficiently maintained. Works with the Continuous Improvement team to maximize maintenance resources and deploy new maintenance technologies. Works with facility staff and corporate functional leads to plan and execute plant managed capital improvements;
 
– People Leader: Engages milling team to develop technical excellence in the areas of equipment design, process knowledge, mill flow, and project development. Collaborate with the Technical teams to establish effective technical milling training for appropriate segments of the workforce, as well as for new millers and interns. Develop strength and consistency in GMA mills by mentoring, coaching and training;
 
– Collaborate/Consult: Both within their location and at other facilities, this role is leveraged to provide support to all plant departments and engineering for new projects and advanced problem solving. Work with engineering and plant team in executing and commissioning of capital projects. Will likely be tasked with special projects to support other milling locations for technical milling expertise or to assist other milling projects;
 
– Strategic Planning: Identify and define value added projects. Responsible for carrying out systemic changes as set by the Plant Manager. Ensure the strategic delivery of milling best practices/technology. Conducts long-term horizon planning required to optimize milling operations;
 
-Governance, Risk Management and Metrics: Use published standard key performance metrics for the milling area to openly, positively, and constructively to improve operations through benchmarking. Reduce risk, reduce the process impact on the environment, and lower costs in order to improve operational efficiency. Ensure accumulated knowledge and best practice is appropriately shared & captured within the milling organization to build Intellectual Capital advantage.
 
Experience:
– 10+ years of experience in Milling Industry with technical discipline and progressive advancement in a supervisory/technical milling role;
– 5-7 years experience with progressive advancement in a supervisory/technical milling role;
– Language: Portuguese is a must, plus English;
